Rotten rice distributed by WFP and the backing of it by European Union Representatives in Nepal
It is true that Nepalese are in a great difficulty after recent earthquake in Nepal. Different national and international aid agencies have become active to help Nepal. But, in this process, there have been some lapses from the aid agencies of not following proper procedures, protocol or of not informing government agencies. These all, we said, are fine at this hour of crisis.
However, once the holes became bigger, for example, the news of World Food Program (WFP) distributing rotten, decayed, and substandard rice (rice unfit for human consumption) in different parts of the country in the garb of relief materials, people started protesting the inhumane act of WFP and its partners in Nepal who were involved in distributing rotten, decayed, and substandard rice (rice unfit for human consumption). The Nepalese Media played a stellar role this time not caring the risk of jeopardy of advertisements from Nepalese donor agencies. The Nepalese Media widespreadly reported of the news of WFP involvement in distribution of rotten, decayed, and substandard rice (rice unfit for human consumption). The media organisations published detailed news on WFP's distribution of rotten, decayed, and substandard rice (rice unfit for human consumption).
The WFP was silent throughout but due to constant Media watchdog and pressure from Social Media Activists of Nepal, WFP was forced to respond and admit that it has stock of almost 25% of rotten and decayed rice intended for distribution. It was only after pressure from Social Media Activists and Journalists of Nepal that WFP Conceded the reportings in Nepalese Media on decayed and rotten rice. However, in its press release, the WFP tried to cover the mess stating that it did not distribute the foods/rotten rice once it was found rotten. The press release was silent if the fact of rotten rice was found at the field while the foods were distributed or if it has any mechanisms of checking the quality of food before it is transported to affected areas. The natural corollary it follows is that WFP withdrew the distribution of rotten and decayed rice once the social media and watchdog of journalists made news of this inhumane acts.
The fact of WFP's distribution of rotten, decayed, and substandard rice (rice unfit for human consumption) is also corroborated by National Human Rights Commission of Nepal (NHRC)'s statement where it clearly advised people not to eat the rotten, decayed, and substandard rice (rice unfit for human consumption) and also asked the government to take actions against WFP and other agencies involved in rotten, decayed, and substandard rice (rice unfit for human consumption). The matter seemed to have been placed at rest.
However, it seems the egoism of working in NGO/INGO/International Aid agencies have so much percolated in WFP Officials/Un Officials that One such guy organised a press conference in Kathmandu, Nepal yesterday to tell that Nepalese Journalists are writing "non-sense". Yes, you read it right! WFP thinks that Nepal's journalism in nothing but a plain "Non-sense". Such derogatory and purely "non-sense" comments were made by some highly (un) educated officials of UN/WFP in Nepal yesterday. The news about UN Official's comments of calling Nepalese Media non-sense has also been reported in Indian Papers. Quoting Press Trust of India (PTI), Indian NewsPaper "Daily News & Analysis (DNA)" has also reported on the news HERE
DNA Reports that the UN Official said, "It is totally wrong and nonsense to make allegations by the local media here that the WFP had distributed substandard foods to the earthquake affected people," It was John Ging, director of Coordination and Response Division of the United Nations, Office of the Humanitarian Affairs who was interacting with Media in Kathmandu Nepal on the issues of reports of distribution of decayed and rotten rice to earthquake victims in Nepal.
The Nepali National Daily, The Himalayan Times (THT) has also reported on this HERE
THT Writes that UNOCHA director terms media reports on damaged foods ‘nonsense’and THT says that John Ging, director of Coordination and Response Division of the United Nations, Office of the Humanitarian Affairs stated that DAMAGED ITEMS NEVER DISTRIBUTED TO VICTIMS.
Mr. John Ging of UNO in Nepal is not aware of the ground realities and facts of distribution of rotten and decayed rice by WFP in Nepal in the garb of relief materials for earthquake victims. Nepal Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had issued a press release calling for actions against guilty parties WFP and its Local Partners in Nepal. Nepal's Parliamentary Committee had also found that the rotten, decayed rice were distributed in Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk Earthquake Victims. You can read the reports of National Human Rights Commission, Nepal on foods distributed by WFP HERE
After such remarks were made by that official, Rensje Teerink, in twitter @RensjeTeerink
Ambassador/Head of EU Delegation to Nepal @EUinNepal who says to tweet about EU, Nepal and developments in South Asia was very quick to give a clean chit and to elevate such official of WFP to a high level for mocking Nepalese and Nepalese Journalism. Initially, it was hard to believe why there was a need for Ambassador/Head of EU Delegation to Nepal @EUinNepal to join the bandwagon when her organisation had nothing to do with distribution of decayed and rotten rice distributed by WFP. However, it was very clear later after her some tweets that her conduct of endorsements of WFP Official's views was mainly due to her scant disregard for Nepalese People's lives.
Rensje Teerink, in twitter @RensjeTeerink, Ambassador/Head of EU Delegation to Nepal @EUinNepal in her tweets mock the poor Nepalese, and our nationalism. She even challenged us by diverting WFP Food to Yemen and Syria and threatened us that we may die of hunger in Nepal as our pride can not make us survive for a long.
This shows that Rensje Teerink, in twitter @RensjeTeerink, Ambassador/Head of EU Delegation to Nepal @EUinNepal, UNO/WFP treats us like beggars and we cant be choosers but have to live on whatever decayed or rotten foods WFP Provides.

Some Prior developments
1. After the news of WFP's distribution of rotten and decayed rice in earthquake affected areas in Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk, NHRC, Nepal did a lab testing of the food. NHRC in its press release said that NHRC confirms the rice distributed by the WFP to be of substandard quality. It further said that The National Human Rights Commission has confirmed the rice made available by the UN World Food Program (WFP) and distributed by the Nepal Red Cross Society to the earthquake survivors to be of substandard quality. The monitoring team comprising the Commissioner duo Mohna Ansari and Govinda Sharma Paudyal have found the rice stored (by WFP) and Mahadevsthan based Samaj Sewa Bhavan to be of substandard quality.
The laboratory report of the Food Technology and Quality Control Department of the Government of Nepal (GoN) has, upon examining the sample of rice provided (by WFP), confirmed that ‘The particles of rice grain (distributed by WFP to earthquake Victims in Nepal) found do not meet the standard of quality compulsorily specified by the GoN.’
NHRC, Kathmandu, Nepal further stated, "About half the sack of rice (brought by WFP for distribution in Nepal) mixed with black particles could be seen even with the naked eyes, the monitoring report unveils."
The Press release further states, "On being asked about the consumption of rice distributed by WFP, the local residents said that the decayed and rotten rice distributed by WFP turned sour, bitter and tasteless with bad odour while cooking, so they mixed it with the fodder. After eating the above rice, the children in the area suffered from diarrhoea and had to undergo the treatment."
The Commission draws the attention of the government to drag to justice and punish those involved in distributing food of substandard quality that has direct connection with the health and life of the people. Earlier in 2009, the Commission had recommended to the GoN to take necessary action against UN WFP upon confirming the rice made available in Jajarkot district was of substandard quality.

2. Nepal's digital News Portal, Setopati.com had also reported on the news where it wrote that NHRC asks govt to take action against WFP, Nepal Red Cross as WFP was found to be distributing rotten and decayed rice in Nepal's earthquake victims.
3. Photos of the decayed, rotten and sub-standard rice in Nepal which was distributed by WFP to earthquake Victims in Nepal.
The above photo is posted from Myrepublica National Daily. Earlier, myrepublica English National Daily had reported that Parliamentary Committee of Nepal has asked the government to ensure that sub-standard rice distributed by WFP will not be continued. The Report is HERE
The Report had further said, "Rice distributed by WFP substandard: Parliamentary committee
A parliamentary committee has concluded that the World Food Program (WFP) distributed substandard rice to the earthquake victims in Laprak of Gorkha district. Following an inspection at Majuwa Deurali of Gorkha district by a joint team of comprising representatives of political parties and agriculture department, the team had suggested WFP to not distribute the food. However, the representatives of WFP had distributed the food saying 'this rice is good for Gorkha', a report prepared by a subcommittee of National Disaster Management Monitoring and Direction Committee stated. The report concludes that the rice distributed by WFP was found to be rotten. A general inspection of the rice was not done even at the store-houses before dispatching the same as a relief material to the affected areas. The committee today submitted its report to Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang."
So, the news is very clear that WFP distributed in Nepal rotten, decayed, and substandard rice to the earthquake victims of Gorkha even though the directions were given to it not to distribute them. So, the plain lies of WFP have been exposed here as Nepal's parliamentary Committee had found that poor quality of rice were distributed in Gorkha District of Nepal.
