In its final and the 6th match that Nepal played today in International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League Division Four (WCL Division IV), Nepal won comfortably against United States of America ('USA') and became the group champion in WCL Division IV Cricket League. Nepali Cricket Team was also able to push it towards Division III League and has opened a door for 2015 World Cup Cricket. This is the biggest achievment for Nepali Cricket Team. Nepal maintained their unbeaten run in the World Cricket League Division Four after completing an easy eight-wicket win over USA in the final of the tournament in Kuala Lumpur. The win was set up by left-arm spinner Basanta Regmi's five-wicket haul, which limited USA to 145 after they had chosen to bat. USA's top order was not allowed to settle into any substantial partnership as regular strikes reduced them to 83 for 5. The lower half of the batting order was then skittled by Regmi as Nepal removed the last four batsmen for eight runs.

Nepal lost opening batsmen Anil Mandal, who had scored a century in the previous game, in the third over, but a 93-run stand between Subash Khakurel and Gyanendra Malla all but sealed the contest. Malla scored a 65-ball 66 that included seven hits to the boundary and three over it, but was out in the 20th over. Khakurel, who remained not out on 40, shared another unbeaten stand with captain Paras Khadka to help Nepal achieve the target with 22 overs to spare. Regmi, who ended up as the tournament's leading wicket taker with 21 wickets, was awarded Man of the Match.

Both teams, however, had already qualified for Division Three and Nepal's coach, Pubudu Dassanayake, expressed happiness on his team's performance: "The team did just what was needed here and deserved to win. When I came to Nepal the goal was always to get this team up to a chance of qualifying for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and this Division 4 win now means we're one step closer. There's a lot more hard work to do but I'm delighted with the progress so far."

It is important to note that the Nepali Cricket Team was unbeaten in this Cricket Tournament and Nepal won all the six matches without any deafeat. In this Cricket tournament, Nepali Cricket Team made substantial progress on batting and bowling both. This has opened a window of hope for Nepali Cricket Lovers that Nepal can do much better in Cricket on coming days.

With the increasing development of Television and Radio Channels in Nepal and with increasing use of modern mobile technology inside Rural Nepal, the once feudal game in England – the cricket – is penentrating deep inside Nepal's remote places. Also, the fact that has influenced Nepali's interests towards cricket is due to Nepal's immediate neighbour India which has been a champion in developing and commercialising Cricket. Other closer countries in South Asia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are much ahead in Cricket and Nepalis have learned how to play and enjoy cricket watching these neighbours play.

There is no official data regarding which sports has the maximum mass base in Nepal but our common sense says that it has to be the football as of now. However, with the progress of Cricket in this phase will certainly make Cricket the most preferred and played sports in Nepal. Nepal, being a very poor thirdworld country, hardly invests on Sports but whatever little has been done till date has gone towards Football. In comparison to investment and mass supports, Football in Nepal is not able to perform that much in comparison to what Cricket Players are doing. There is a high chance that with these kinds of performances by Nepali Cricketers, the loyalty will gradullay now, shifts towards Cricket.

At this juncture, let us celebrate the victory of Nepali Cricket Team and may Nepali Cricket Team do even better on coming days! Yo jit kasko? Nepali Cricket ko, Cricket ka Fans haru Ko!
